Gather & Grow | Plant Thieves: Botanical Crime & Its Consequences

Dr. Chad Posick and Dr. M. Dylan Spencer bring complementary expertise to plant crimes as professors at Georgia Southern University's Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology.

Dr. Posick combines his PhD in Criminology with his background in environmental studies. His research focuses on victimology and criminal behavior, examining how crimes impact victims and communities.

Dr. Spencer specializes in conservation-related crime, using spatial and quantitative methods to understand environmental crimes. He focuses on prevention rather than just explanation, connecting criminology with conservation science to show how human behavior causes environmental harm.

Together, they'll explore how plant trafficking affects ecosystems, communities, and the people who work to protect our natural resources. Their combined expertise in criminal justice and conservation crime offers valuable insights into this growing threat to our botanical heritage.
